Cultivating change: How Purpose is transforming Interflora

Given (Part of Anthesis)

Client: Interflora

For over 100 years, Interflora has brought people together through flowers, connecting local artisan florists with those who want to send beautiful bouquets.

Facing new competition, Interflora needed to transform. A refreshed purpose, "to make beautiful things happen," would be the north star of this revival and it needed to be understood, owned, and used by everyone to have an impact internally and externally.

Change isn’t easy, but it's especially hard for a business with an average tenure of 12 years. We needed to shake things up and signal genuine commitment to change from the top, along with tangible actions. We did so via two workstreams:

1. The Power of Purpose engagement, starting conversations between leaders and colleagues to energise the new vision.

2. A new, purpose-driven social impact strategy, to put the purpose into action in helping to solve a real, urgent societal issue – supporting people through life’s lonely moments.
